Waymo is launching the first-ever self-driving car service

Introducing Waymo One, the first fully self-driving service

If you're in the Phoenix, Arizona area you're in luck! Waymo One is launching to a select group of early riders in part of the metro Phoenix area. People in this area will be able to use the Waymo app to call a car (like they would an Uber or a Lyft) and a self-driving car will be sent to take them to their destination.

For extra security, Waymo One will hire human drivers that will be ready to take over the driving of the car if anything occurs during the ride. The app will also have great customer support that will provide riders with fast access to phone and chat support in real-time. Waymo is playing it safe and taking it slow with releasing a fully autonomous drive hailing service because of collisions that have happened in the past with self-driving cars. There are also a number of legal hurdles to jump through as far as getting approved.
