There’s Now A Virgin Cruise Ship
The masterminds behind leading airline Virgin America, have unveiled their first cruise ship under the new banner, Virgin Voyages
Virgin Group revealed Sir Richard Branson's new cruise line, Virgin Voyages, during a press conference on July 20 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy.
But here’s the humdinger – the new line is not supposed to cater to super cruisers because the team behind the new venture has never set sail before.
That’s right. The team Sir Richard Branson styled the “Creative Collective” led by Roman and Williams, Concrete Amsterdam, and Tom Dixon’s Design Research Studio are developing the Virgin cruise line for newcomers at sea.
The “retrofuturistic” vessel named the Scarlet Lady, which keeps with the brand’s “red” theme boasts some impressive wellness-focused specs including a 360-degree sundeck, a watering hole filled with cold-pressed juices, a male pedicure spa, an underwater cave spa, outdoor fitness center, and swanky athletic club. Once you relax, you can then “retox” by having a drink and hitting up one of the ship’s nightclubs.
The company is also paying it forward. The Vitamin Sea Initiative will emphasize the use of sustainable materials (the ship will ban all single-use plastic products), and the “Scarlet Squad” will dedicate substantial efforts to hiring women in leadership roles at sea and beyond.
The Scarlet Lady plans to set sail in the Caribbean from Miami in 2020.
