Time’s New Front Cover Morphs Trump & Putin’s Faces Together
You won’t be able to unsee this horrific mashup of Trump and Putin that Time just put on the front cover.
Known for having some of the coolest cover art of any magazine, Time just released a crazy mashup of president Donald Trump and Vladamir Putin’s faces for its latest cover. Coming out right after Trump and Putin’s joint press conference and Summit in Helsinki, Finland, the image depicts two of the world leaders morphed together as one person.
The cover is accompanied by an article, Trump Wanted a Summit With Putin. He Got Way More Than He Bargained For, which was written by Brian Bennett and dropped this morning. Throughout the article, Bennett describes Trump’s loyalty to both Russia and the United States.
The magazine also tweeted an animated version of the cover, depicting the transition from U.S. president to Russian Prime Minister.
While the static image is bad enough, the video transformation is really sending chills down a lot of our spines. The video has already been viewed half a million times, has 14.5K likes and 10.7K retweets.
Twitter has already showered in reactions to the horrific image. Comments have been pouring in since the tweet dropped at 4:22 am this morning. Some have taken the liberty of creating their own versions of a Trump and Putin mashup, made some hilarious GIFs and have even thrown out their own versions of a Time magazine page cover.
For those of you unaware, the Summit was a complete debacle. President Trump not only took Russia’s side in defending that it had anything to do with America’s 2016 election but then claimed to have misspoken, taking back his earlier statement after receiving rapid backlash.
It appears that the only person who doesn’t think the Summit was a complete failure is the president himself, who has Tweeted several times about its success, promising a second meeting to come within the near future.
