Instagram Is Testing A Feature That Will Let You Tag Friends In Videos

Why is Instagram just now letting people tag friends in videos?

Have you ever posted an awesome video on Instagram and wanted to tag the people in it but quickly learned that the feature was unavailable? Well, Instagram is now testing a feature that will take users to a page showing everyone tagged in the video you’re about to post. The photo-sharing app told TechCrunch that the feature is currently only available to a limited number of users and is also only available via the app.

But why is Instagram just now deciding to let people tag others in videos? Given that Instagrammers have been able to post videos for over 5 years now and the feature is already available in stories, you would think that the new feature would have come out a while ago. The reason could potentially be part of Instagram’s plan to grow the video element of the app, alongside rolling out IGTV and its video chat feature.

We for one can’t wait until we’re able to tag our friends in videos on Instagram. Let us know what you think about the new feature in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more Instagram updates and other entertaining reads.
