The Saga Of Star Wars Episodes With Skywalker To Come To An End
The saga of Star Wars episodes featuring the loved Luke Skywalker is coming to an end
It’s been a good fortyone years since the first Star Wars movie came out and as sad as we are to see the Skywalker Saga end, all things must come to an end (or as Kylo Ren might say – it’s time to let the past die). The proof is in the pudding and can be found deep within the official announcement of the Star Wars Episode IX cast.
While people are stoked to see Mark Hamill (presumably as a Force ghost version of Luke Skywalker), Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and the unseen footage of Carrie Fisher that will be used to help send off General Leia Organa, many may have looked past the details, which reveal that J.J. Abrams is returning to direct the final instalment of the Skywalker Saga. Abrams pointed out that the repurposed Fisher footage was necessary for "a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga."
The Skywalker Saga includes all of the numbered Star Wars movies, except for Rogue One and Solo, both of which were are known as "A Star Wars Story."
This, of course, doesn’t mark the end of the Star Wars franchise as a whole. There are still plenty of brand new Star Wars movies in the works coming from Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, Dan Weiss, and Game of Thrones David Benioff.
Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm has also suggested that there are still yet to be plenty of movies featuring the loveable Rey, Finn, and Poe from the new series. The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, of course, made two of the twelve largest box office releases of all time so it would be crazy not to continue the story.
While Star Wars: Episode IX is set to begin filming at London’s Pinewood Studios on August 1, 2018, we here at The Sitch can’t wait until next December when the movie is set to release.
