This Coffee Shop Owner Convinced Ryan Gosling To Visit Her Café With A Life Size Cardboard Cutout
What better way to get Ryan Gosling to visit your café than to make a giant cutout of him and post it on Twitter?
Joelle Murray, the owner of Grinder Coffee in Toronto's east end might not be your typical Ryan Gosling fan. However, many might say that she is a master of marketing, given that she was able to convince Gosling to visit her coffee shop with nothing but a life size cardboard cutout and a viral social media campaign promising 15% off if he showed up during the Toronto International Film Festival.
Day 4 of #ryanneedsgrinder .Real @RyanGosling meet Grinder Ryan. Think of the fun you could have taking selfies with a selfie. If you do you get to be entered into our contest. @idriselba didn't get that treatment #YYZ #TIFF #welovethis pic.twitter.com/8tvUK1c0yq— GrinderCoffeeGerrard (@GrinderCoffeeTO) September 6, 2018
Murray isn’t one to quit when it comes to getting stars to visit her cafe. She decided to begin the campaign earlier this month after failing to convince Idris Elba to visit Grinder Coffee last year. According to Canoe.com, even though Gosling had already seen the posts on Twitter, it was his mother that convinced him to stop by. Murray, of course, had nothing but good things to say about her encounter with the actor.
And this happened... #ryanneedsgrinder worked. The man himself showed up. What a good sport, a well brought up Canadian boy. We truly appreciate Ryan taking the time the time to visit us during #tiff. Take that @idriselba your loss. pic.twitter.com/8rMMWOs32J— GrinderCoffeeGerrard (@GrinderCoffeeTO) September 11, 2018
