Rihanna Is Now An “Ambassador Extraordinary”

Rihanna Is Now An “Ambassador Extraordinary”

Yes, you read that right - Rihanna is now considered an ambassador for Barbados

Not only is Rihanna a vastly talented performer, she’s also now an Ambassador for Barbados with the specific responsibility of promoting education, tourism, and financial investments. The singer was appointed yesterday by the Barbados government and her official title is “an ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary.”

In 2008, Rihanna became one of Barbados’ Cultural Ambassadors, but this expanded role will carry more weight and responsibility. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley was the one to officially give her her title saying, “Rihanna has a deep love for this country and this is reflected in her philanthropy, especially in the areas of health and education. She also shows her patriotism in the way she gives back to Barbados and continues to treasure the island as her home….It is therefore fitting that we engage and empower her to play a more definitive role as we work to transform Barbados.”

Rihanna is very excited for her new role saying, “I couldn’t be more proud to take on such a prestigious title in my home country. Every Barbadian is going to have to play their role in this current effort, and I’m ready and excited to take on the responsibility.”

This position seems to be on par with the special representative for Russian-U.S. humanitarian ties role Russia gave actor Steven Seagal earlier this year.
