The Philadelphia Flyers’ new mascot Gritty is pretty creepy
Meet Gritty, the most terrifying mascot in the NHL
On Monday, Philadelphia’s NHL team revealed a new mascot and it kind of looks like a hairier, more excited version of Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street. In fact, the new mascot for the Flyers might actually be the most terrifying mascot in the NHL. The 7-foot orange creature is called Gritty and while most of the other mascots and Philadelphia pro teams eagerly accepted him with open arms, the general public doesn’t really know what to think. Some people are already seemingly embracing him while others are just down right scared of him.
I will say this: if you're going to bring in Gritty, BRING IN GRITTY. Don't just put him up on the concourse and have him wave his arms to pump up the crowd. Have him chugging beers and screaming SHOOT and swearing at the coach. Really lean into it, man.— GRITTY CONTENT ONLY (@Kurt_BSH) September 24, 2018
