Back To School: Coolest Tech Gadgets We Wished We Had Back In The Day
Out with the old and in with the new - kids today have some really awesome tech in the classroom
Gone are the days of projectors (remember the expo markers and the clear sheets?) and Smart Boards (did those ever actually work?). Students today have a variety of gadgets for the classroom and home. Below we've compiled a list of some of the coolest new gadgets kids these days are using in school.
ClassVR is a Virtual and Augmented Reality platform that allows students to engage with their curriculum in a new way. Each student receives a standalone headset that delivers a fully immersive VR experience the teacher can manage. Students can use the ClassVR to learn just about anything from subjects like history, nature, geography, technology, and art.
Ozobot is a pocket sized coding robot that teaches kids how to code. Ozobot, referred to as “Evo" and "Bit," grows with the student from “color codes for budding creators to OzoBlockly for beginning to advanced coders.” Ozobot makes learning how to code fun, entertaining, and continually engaging for students of all ages. It can easily be used in the classroom or at home.
3. Speechify & Knewton
With the increase in technology, learning can also become easier and more engaging for students who have disabilities. Speechify is an app for people with Dyslexia. The app allows users to scan whatever they’re reading and it will be read out loud to them.
Knewton is an adaptive learning technology that diagnoses knowledge gaps while a student is completing an assignment. This can help make it easier for teachers to understand exactly what level each child is at in their learning so that they can help cater their teaching to each child as an individual - making it easier for students to learn where they’re at intellectually as opposed to academically.
We definitely wish these tools were around when we were in school - it definitely would have made learning more fun and engaging. What’s your favorite new classroom tech? Let us know in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more tech news and other entertaining reads.
