Matt Smith To Play A Key Role In Upcoming ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’
While the role is still unknown, Matt Smith is set to play a key character in the next Star Wars movie
According to reports surfacing earlier this week, Matt Smith is set to join the next Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Episode IX in a big way. At this time it’s still unclear whether Smith will be part of the rebellion or the evil empire. Having also played roles in various TV shows and movies like Doctor Who, The Crown, and Terminator Genisys, it’s hard to say whether or not the actor will succumb to the dark side in the next Star Wars installment. But if we had to guess, we would probably put our money on one of the bad guys.
While J.J. Abrams’ Episode IX is set to be the last movie to feature both Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker and the late Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa, the movie is set to bring back several of the latest franchise cast members that we’ve come to love – including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac. The film is also set to bring on a few newcomers as well, including Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, and Keri Russell who is most notably known for her role as Elizabeth Jennings in the FX series The Americans.
We’re excited to see what roles Smith and the new cast members will play in Star Wars: Episode IX. Let us know what you think about the new cast in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more Star Wars updates and other entertaining reads.
