‘Lilo & Stitch’ will be Disney’s next live-action masterpiece
It’s official - Disney will make a live-action version of Lilo & Stitch
Disney has made it a trend recently to re-make its classic animated movies into live-action films. First, there was Cinderella (2015), then The Jungle Book (2016), Beauty and the Beast (2017), Christopher Robin (2018), Dumbo (2019), Mulan (2020), and now Lilo & Stitch. Disney is also currently working on re-making The Lion King and Aladdin.
Disney has hired Mike Van Waes to write the script for the live-action Lilo & Stitch, which will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback - the same producers for the Aladdin remake.
While Lilo & Stitch is not typically associated with the other Disney classics, the movie was met with a great deal of success when it released in 2002. Disney has not revealed whether or not the live action version of the film will be released on the big screen or on Disney’s new streaming service, set to launch in 2019.
