Check out this little girl's Michelle Obama Halloween costume
This little girl fell in love with a portrait of Michelle Obama and so she decided to be her for Halloween
Two-year-old Parker was with her parents at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. when she saw a portrait of Michelle Obama that had her totally entranced. Parker's mother couldn't even get her to turn around for a picture with the portrait saying she "genuinely, honestly would not turn around...she was uncooperative because she was just so focused on the portrait and studying it, and she was just so fascinated."
That's when Ben Hines saw a little girl in a pink coat totally captivated by the image of Obama and he decided to take a picture of the sight. After posting the picture on social media, it soon went viral and even the former first lady herself commented on the photo and Amy Sherald, who painted the original portrait, re-posted the photo to her own Instagram.

Feeling all the feels. 😭 When I look at this picture I think back to my first field trip in elementary school to a museum. I had only seen paintings in encyclopedias up to that point in my life. There was a show up of work by painter @thebobartlett whose work still inspires me to this day. There was a painting of a black man standing in front of a house. I don't remember a lot about my childhood, but I do have a few emotional memories etched into my mind forever and seeing that painting of a man that looked like he could be my father stopped me dead in my tracks. This was my first time seeing real paintings that weren't in a book and also weren't painted in another century. I didn't realize that none of them had me in them until I saw that painting of Bo's. I knew I wanted to be an artist already, but seeing that painting made me realize that I could. What dreams may come? #representationmatters
When it came time for Parker, now 3, to consider what she would be for Halloween she already had her mind made up - she was going to be Michelle Obama. Parker dressed up in a gown that looks almost identical to the dress that Obama wore and posed like the portrait for a photo. Obama re-posted the photo and said that Parker had "nailed the look."
Parker's mom said that Parker "believes Michelle Obama is a queen, and she wants to be a queen as well...as a female and as a girl of color, it's really important that I show her people who look like her that are doing amazing things and are making history so that she knows she can do it."
Back in March, after the photo first went viral, Parker even got the chance to meet the queen Obama herself. Let us know what you think of this adorable story in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more inspiring Halloween news and other entertaining reads.
