Lil Wayne to release 'Tha Carter V' this Friday
Yes – it’s finally here. Lil Wayne is dropping Tha Carter V
It’s been 7 years since Lil Wayne released his amazing album Tha Carter IV and this week the hip hop legend is bringing fans the next installment in Tha Carter album series. April 28 not only marks the album release date but also happens to be Wayne’s 36th birthday.
Tha Carter V drop is following a three minute promo video Wayne released on Tuesday discussing the album. The video begins with Wayne jumping out of a Hummer truck, looking into the camera saying "I heard there was a misunderstanding about the release date of Tha CV," which is in regards to social media rumors that the album was due to be released last Friday, September 21.
"I would like for y'all to know that since y'all stuck with me for like the last four or five years, through all of this, y'all got me feeling like Tiger Woods with this comeback," the rapper continued. "On my birthday, I actually have something special. I will be releasing Tha Carter V on my birthday. Now, if you don't know when my birthday is, Wikipedia does. Wiki me, bish." And of course fans can’t wait to hear the new album.
Weezy fans have been waiting nearly six years for Tha Carter V to drop and the day is finally here. The delay, of course, was due to an ongoing legal battle between Weezy and Birdman, a battle which ended up making Wayne the sole owner of Young Money. More about Wayne’s new album and a countdown clock can be found on the official website.
