It's official, Kevin Hart will be the host for the 2019 Academy Awards

Kevin Hart has been announced as the 2019 Oscar host

On February 24, 2019 actor and comedian Kevin Hart will host the 91st Academy Awards. The performer announced the news on Tuesday afternoon on Instagram calling it the "opportunity of a lifetime."

Jimmy Kimmel has hosted the awards show for the last two years, but the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences made a switch to Hart after last year's Oscars viewers dropped from 43 million viewers to 26.5 million viewers. The Academy is in desperate need of boosting ratings and who better to do that than one of this generation’s most popular and well-loved comedians?
