Rainbow - album
Kesha's latest album, Rainbow, was an artistic attempt at a spiritual cleanse and Kesha facing her demons. The entire album is essentially a mental health anthem with the song "Praying" quite literally feeling like an exorcism. The song is in reference to Kesha's legal battle with Dr. Luke who sexually, physically, verbally, and emotionally abused her to the point of almost losing her life. According to Kesha, the making of the album saved her life.
Rainbow - film
The documentary about Kesha's album called, Kesha Rainbow Film, will be directed by Kevin Hayden and Kesha’s brother, Lagan Sebert, who has worked on a number of her music videos. The documentary will plunge deep into Kesha's personal life and her thought life. The film will even feature psychedelic vignettes to portray the struggles and difficulties that the singer faced during the darkest time of her life.
In an interview with Billboard, Kesha stated, “Making Rainbow the album was such a therapeutic process and given the opportunity to turn it into a three-dimensional piece of art has helped me find even deeper healing and catharsis," The star went on to say, "I hope this film inspires others to never give up even if you feel full of hurt or lost, because after the storm comes a rainbow. Depression, anxiety and mental illness are things we all need to talk about more, and there is no shame in asking for help. Making the decision to work on yourself is the bravest thing you can do. I hope this film helps bring light and love to everyone.”
