Kendrick Lamar Just Made His Debut As An Actor On 50 Cent's Show ‘Power’
Rapper Kendrick Lamar plays a homeless man on 50 Cent’s drama Power
You might know Kendrick Lamar from top hits like “HUMBLE”, “DNA” and “LOVE” but tonight marks his big debut as an actor. Appearing on 50 Cent’s Starz drama Power, Lamar portrays a homeless man who tries to sell 50 Cent’s character, Kanan some gift cards outside of a bodega. Later in the episode, Lamar distracts another character while 50 Cent shoots down the man while riding a bicycle. Lamar’s character then goes in to take the man’s shoes and wallet before doing a celebratory dance.
Power’s creator Courtney Kemp stated that Lamar just “wanted to play something crazy”. Being portrayed as a homeless man stealing a dead man’s wallet and shoes sounds pretty crazy. Kemp also told the Associated Press that Lamar’s friendship with 50 Cent helped secure the acclaimed rapper’s acting debut. Kemp went on to say “He’s really gifted, tremendously gifted. I mean it’s a total transformation. It is not a version of Kendrick Lamar that you’ve ever seen before. So it’s very exciting.” A few scenes from the show can be seen below.
