Here’s Why People Don’t Like These Beat Up Sneakers That Cost $530
People are outraged with Golden Goose’s new line of sneakers that appear to be “glorifying poverty”
If you were in the market for shoes that look like two different people have already worn them and they are barely held together by some tape, how much would you be willing to pay for said pair of shoes? Well, high-end fashion line Golden Goose is trying to sell a similar pair for over $500 and people aren’t too happy about it.
The pair is part of the Italian designer shoe brand’s fall/winter 2018 collection and has been said to be “glorifying poverty”. According to the item description on Nordstrom’s website, the pair has been designed with “crumply, hold-it-all-together tape” and a “grungy rubber cupsole”. Needless to say, people have taken to Twitter in outrage, saying “there are people in the world wearing plastic bags as shoes because they can’t afford any but these HIDEOUS things are selling for $500 the fashion industry is truly so fucking stupid it pisses me off like what the actual hell ??????!” and “we’ve already got a problem if any clothing description says “crumply, hold-it-all tape details a sneaker” but it’s even bigger when that sneaker costs $530!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!111!!!!!!”

And the pair that everyone is talking about isn’t even as bad as the Maison Margiela Fusion Sneaker which has a similar distressed look and retails for $1,645.
We for one won’t be buying any of these sneakers, no matter how trendy they may be. Let us know what you think about Golden Goose’s design in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more fashion trends and other entertaining reads.
