Fox Is Starting To Get Weird With Its New Singing Competition
Fox is looking to release a new singing competition called The Masked Singer and it looks like a Halloween music festival
Fox is looking to debut its next singing competition, which involves unidentified musicians singing on stage wearing huge Halloween-esque costumes that help disguise their identities.
The show, The Masked Singer is originally from Korea and the network is ordering an American version to come to the states. But those within the costumes won’t be your average American (or Facebook) idols. No, these will be famous celebrities that most of us know, just dressed head to toe in elaborate costumes – complete with a full-face mask. A huge rabbit in a straight jacket, a unicorn and a fuzzy Cyclopes looking thing are but some of the costumes from the trailer that would put Deadmau5 and Marshmello to shame.
Executive producer Craig Plestis has said that “There are very few hit formats left in the world, and when I saw The Masked Singer, which is a true global and viral phenomenon that has captured the world’s attention, I knew it had to be brought to life in America.”
Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke, along with the rest of America will try to figure out the identity of each singer, while loveable host Nick Cannon helps guide the audience through the odd experience.
While the list of competitors won’t be released, the network has said that they’ve pulled together 65 Grammy nominations, 16 multi-Platinum albums, 16 Emmy nominations, nine Broadway shows, four stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and four Super Bowl titles.
The show is set to debut in January of next year and we can’t wait to check out all of the crazy costumes yet to be seen.
