Facebook is testing a new feature that would allow friends to see who else is nearby

Facebook has borrowed some ideas from all of its competitors in order to stay on top - Facebook stories, Facebook Video, the list goes on. Now, in another attempt to maintain its monopoly over all of social media, Facebook is testing a new feature that is very similar to Snapchat's "Snap Map."

The new map-like feature will actually be a redesign of the "Nearby Friends" feature that Facebook added a few years ago - showing Facebook users which friends are nearby. "Nearby Friends" never really took off, though, since friends need to allow Facebook to access their location.

The Facebook map for nearby friends will have both a map feature as well as list feature, to make it even easier to find out where your friends are. The goal is that friends can see who's nearby and they might actually take the initiative to hang out - in person.
