Emma Thompson became a Dame Commander and asked Prince William for a kiss
During Emma Thompson's appointment as a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire, she asked Prince William if she could sneak a kiss
Actress Emma Thompson (Love Actually, Nanny McPhee, and Beauty & the Beast) was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire on November 7th and, during her ceremony, she asked Prince William if she could kiss him. Afterward, Thompson told reporters that she loves Prince William saying, "I've known him since he was little, and we just snickered at each other. I said, 'I can't kiss you, can I?' And he said, 'No, don't!'"
The ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace and becoming a dame is essentially the same as being Knighted, but for women. Thompson said that it's "really lovely because [she's] always loved the boys, and [has] always been a long-term correspondent with their dad. It's a very lovely feeling."
Thompson is not the first celebrity to receive special honors from the Royals, other famous Knights and Dames include Ringo Starr, Daniel Day-Lewis, Patrick Stewart, Elton John, Angelina Jolie, and Judi Dench.
