Elon Musk implies that his tweet about 420 was worth the $20 million fine
Earlier this month, Elon Musk was charged with "false and misleading" statements that cost him $20 million in fines - now, he's saying the tweet that started it all was "worth it"
Ah, Elon Musk...one of the most brilliant minds of our generation and someone who, arguably, should not be allowed anywhere near Twitter. This past week, he asked users to reply with their “dankest memes” and was met with some brutal responses. Earlier this month, after a post made in August saying that the company would be going private at $420, the Tesla Founder and CEO was charged with making false and misleading statements. The issue was that the agreed price was $419, not $420. Rumor has it that Musk rounded up in order to both make a weed reference and impress his girlfriend - neither one of which flies in a court of law.
Musk's penalty for the misleading tweet was a $20 million fine from both himself and Tesla, as well as stepping down as the Tesla Chairman for a minimum of three years. Musk obliged and is no longer the chairman and agreed to pay the fines.
Now, Musk is coming out and saying that allegedly the "420" tweet was worth it because of how many likes it got on the platform. The conversation began with Musk tweeting that most posts on Instagram get about 10% likes from their followers and on Twitter, it drops down to 1%. A Twitter user responded inquiring about the "like ratio" of the tweet that cost Musk $20 million to which Musk responded "worth it."

Later that day, Musk tweeted that he would be "signing off Twitter for a few days..." likely due to how people responded to his previous tweet.

Musk is undoubtedly a genius when it comes to cars, but this temporary Twitter sign off is likely for the best. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more Tesla news and other entertaining reads.
