Everything We Know About Disney’s New Live-Action 'Mulan'
Disney recently announced that it has started production on a live-action version of Mulan and we’re psyched about it
Disney’s 1998 hit Mulan featured a Chinese girl who dressed herself up as a boy just so that she could help fight in the war. The beautifully animated movie is but one of several awesome stories depicting a heroin protagonist who also happens to kick a lot of butt.
The company announced earlier today that it has begun production on its live-action remake of the classic film, similar to what it’s doing with a plethora of other movies, like Dumbo, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and Christopher Robin to name a few.
The picture above depicts Liu Yifei in costume as Hua Mulan and while we don’t know too much about the movie, we do know that it is being directed by Niki Caro with a screenplay written by Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa, Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. The film is set to be shot on location in both New Zealand and China and will feature a talented cast including the legend himself, Jet Li, Rogue One's Donnie Yen, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's Jason Scott Lee, The Meg's Yoson An, as well as Ron Yuan, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Tzi Ma, Cheng Pei-Pei and Rosalind Chao.
The film is set to release in the United States on March 27, 2020. Let us know what you think about this new live-action remake of Mulan in the comments section below and be sure to subscribe to The Sitch for more Disney movie updates and other entertaining reads.
