Cameron Monaghan is leaving 'Shameless'

Another one bites the dust as Cameron Monaghan leaves Shameless

It’s been a little bit over a month since Emmy Rossum announced that she will be leaving the show Shameless. Now Cameron Monaghan has announced that he also will not be returning.

In an emotional Instagram post, Monaghan said that this Sunday’s episode will be his final episode on the series. Monaghan plays the role of Ian Gallagher, who has become known as “Gay Jesus” in the series.

Monaghan said in his post that he has “known since last year, but didn’t want to give it away too early as [he] wanted this season to be a surprise for the audience, allowing them to experience Ian’s unsure journey with his character. This role has been a joy to inhabit a wild and special ride, and [he’d] like to thank Shameless as well as the viewers for being there with him.”

Monaghan has been a series regular for 10 years, having joined the cast at the age of 15. He mentioned in his post that he’s come of age in many ways both legally and personally through the show and with the cast.

It will be sad to see him go on Sunday night’s episode and it will be interesting to see what happens to Shameless after losing both Emmy Rossum and Cameron Monaghan. What do you think will happen?
