The Best Shark Pictures Of All Time

In honor of Shark Week, we have pulled together some of the best shark pictures of all time

Shark photography - yep, that's a real job. These brave men and women willingly dive into the ocean, swim with sharks, and capture it all on film. With Discovery's Shark Week happening this week, we figured we would share some awesome pictures of sharks with you. We hope you enjoy what we believe to be the 10 best shark pictures ever taken. 

 

1. Great White Shark by Chris Fallows

Chris Fallows is a photographer for National Geographic. Here, we see a great white shark working on getting his dinner - a little seal.

2. Black Tip Reef Shark by Thomas P. Peschak

Thomas P. Peschak is a wildlife photographer for National Geographic. In this photo, there are many blacktip reef sharks swimming around close to shore.

3. Lemon Shark by David Doubilet

David Doubilet is likely one of the most well-known photographers for National Geographic, having his work featured in over 70 articles. This photo captures a mother lemon shark swimming with her young.

4. Mako Shark by Brian J. Skerry

Brian J. Skerry was crowned the Wildlife Photographer of the Year last year for his ability to not only capture great pictures of animals, but also for making it look like a work of art. He recently released a book called Shark, which is available online. This photo captures a mako shark swimming around. What about those eyes?!

5. Tiger Shark by Matt Heath

This photo by Matt Heath is featured in two different "best shark photo" compilations, so we couldn't leave it out of ours! This photo takes you deep into the mouth of a tiger shark.

6. Great White Shark by Chris Fallows

Another great white shark picture by photographer Chris Fallows. This photo features a rainbow and a great white shark coming up to the surface and is absolutely stunning.

7. Hammerhead Shark by Craig O'Connell

You might recognize the name Craig O'Connell - that's because he's one of the shark experts featured on Shark Week. He's called "The Shark Doctor" because he's got a PhD in Marine Science and Technology (but really, he loves sharks). The photo below features a hammerhead shark swimming through beautiful rays of light.

8. Whale Shark by Brian J. Skerry

This is an incredible shark photo by 2017 Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Brian Skerry. The picture shows a whale shark closing in on some dinner.

9. Silky Shark by David Doubilet 

The silky shark gets its name from the appearance of its skin having almost a metallic shine to it. This photo features what appears to be a family of silky sharks.

10. Port Jackson Shark by Mike Perry Minden 

The Port Jackson shark gets its name from where it lives. This photo features a Port Jackson shark swimming around a coral reef - likely in search of food.
