Cute Alert: Baby Elephant Goes Crazy Over American Tourist
This baby elephant could not stop hugging this tourist at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand
Although it’s not entirely proven, it has been claimed that elephants view humans as “cute” in the same way that humans view dogs. This is believed to be true because when elephants see humans, the same part of the brain lights up as when a human sees a cute dog.
Elephants have an extremely large and highly complex hippocampus, which is the part of the brain that is linked to emotion and processing emotional information, making elephants highly emotional creatures.
I just learned that elephants think humans are cute the way humans think puppies are cute (the same part of the brain lights up when they see us) so pack it in, nothing else this pure and good is happening today.— Julia (@JuliaHass) December 20, 2017
In Thailand, a baby elephant might have just proved all of those theories to be true when he couldn’t stop hugging an American tourist.
There’s a video that has recently gone viral of an elephant sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand where an American tourist received some extra love from a baby elephant named Suki. Suki is the youngest elephant calf at the sanctuary and was totally enraptured by this woman. The baby elephant just rolls around on the ground with the tourist and seems to be affectionately playing with her and trying to cuddle.
The video description does point out that “no humans were harmed in the making of this video,” which is good considering that a baby elephant can way up to 200 pounds.
The Chia Lai Orchid Elephant Sanctuary rescues elephants and provides them with a safe and loving place to live.
