Christmas came early on Amazon with free shipping across the US
Amazon has done away with the $25 minimum for free delivery in honor of the approaching holiday season
Halloween is over, which means that retailers everywhere are preparing for the holiday season where Americans spend roughly $465 billion on Christmas. In honor of the shopping frenzy that is about to ensue, Amazon has dropped its shipping charges for Christmas orders in the US.
Normally, a customer needs to spend a minimum of $25 in order to get free shipping, but for a limited time, Amazon is making delivery free for millions of products. It appears that this announcement could be in response to Target's free shipping for the holidays. On top of the free shipping with no minimum, Amazon also announced that Prime members can receive free same-day delivery for roughly three million select items like toys, electronics, home, and fashion.
Target, Walmart, and Amazon are the top retail competitors this holiday season and with other retail stores shutting down after Amazon has proven its dominance over online retail, places like Target and Walmart are needing to fight back with their own online purchasing incentives in order to stay afloat this holiday season.
