Don’t Worry, This Scary Looking Robot Is Totally Fake
Turns out that the human-like robot featured in a viral video that's been running around Twitter is totally computer generated
This video of a human-like robot has been making its rounds on Twitter, giving everyone quite a scare. Even though all the machine does is walk around someone’s driveway, it definitely looks like something out of the Terminator. Thankfully, the world no longer has to live in fear, because the video is totally fake and the robot was made using computer graphics, similar to what you might see in the latest installment of Marvel’s Avengers. On second thought, it actually kind of looks like one of the stunt double robots one might see at Disney.
The robot in question is from a Webby award-winning short filmed named Adam and was produced by the Unity video game and animation engine. Although it’s not totally clear who exactly made this particular video, a designer named Maxim Sullivan first posted it back on August 12. Adam was created by the Unity Demo team – the second and third episodes of which were produced by Oats Studios and District 9 director Neill Blomkamp using the Unity engine. You can also see the behind-the-scenes footage of Adam on YouTube and the second episode below.
As much as we were hoping that this apocalyptic robot was real, we’re also kind of glad that it’s just CGI and not about to take over the world.
