4 Things Millennials Do (That Other Generations Think Are Crazy)

4 Things Millennials Do (That Other Generations Think Are Crazy)

Every generation does things a little bit differently than their parents

In the 60s it was sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. In the 70s it was disco dancing. In the 80s it was the crazy hair and hard rock....you get the point. Now, we live in a world that is totally saturated with technology. Millennials are the first generation to have lived their whole lives with technology at their fingertips, and because of that they do some weird things that other generations think are crazy.

1. Taking pictures of everything and posting it on your "story" for the whole world to see

Other generations wonder why millennials want to share every part of their lives - especially with a dog face on. They ask why should someone care what you ate at that sushi place last night or that you got a new coffee mug? The reality is that, at the core, millennials love having fun and sharing their lives with others - and that is always readily available to them on their phones! Millennials love having the ability to share moments from a cool concert or just post goofy pictures of themselves with a filter over it because at the end of the day, why not?!

2. Having such strong opinions online

Other generations seem to believe that millennials can only voice their opinions online. Things like politics have taken the world wide web by storm and it seems like everyone's got an opinion online and no one is afraid to voice it. The truth is that, while some may be shy in regards to speaking up and voicing their opinion in the real world, millennials are creating strong opinions and refusing to remain silent. That being said, if you have a truly strong opinion about something, you should also take action for it offline (which a lot of millennials still do).

3. Swipe Right for Yes, Left For no

Other generations passed notes in class where their love interest could check "yes" or "no," but the idea of being able to swipe left or right on hundreds of potential dates - whom you've never met before - is pretty crazy. More than a third of new marriages started online (and they have a 1.6% higher chance of lasting). Millennials love being able to explore all of their options in order to make the most educated choice. Millennials also typically date around more than our predecessors before settling down with a "ride or die."

4. Spend hours looking at gifs and memes

Other generations had the comics section of the newspaper; however, the newspaper is now essentially an archaic way of seeing the news, which means no comics section for millennials. Instead, millennials have created their own comics (of sorts) in the form of gifs and memes. Social media is primarily comprised of pictures of their friends, political Facebook rants, and memes. Millennials spend an average of 1-2 hours on social media per day.
