Dunkin' Donuts is changing its name to just “Dunkin”
Yep, that’s right - Dunkin’ Donuts is dropping the “Donuts” from its name
For all of you out there thinking the worst, don’t worry – Dunkin’ Donuts will still serve doughnuts. The doughnut company and coffeehouse is just dropping “donuts” from its name in order to put more emphasis on the delicious coffees and other drinks that it offers. But just in case you happen to love the longer form name, you’re in luck because the name change isn’t scheduled to officially take place until January 2019. Once the new year rolls around, the updated branding will be on nearly everything including napkins, boxes and signs across its 12,500 US stores.
The new logo will still have elements of the old one, though. The Canton, Massachusetts company says that the updated look will keep the familiar font, as well as the orange-and-pink color scheme. In addition to simplifying the name, Dunkin’ is also looking to simplify its menu and dive deeper into mobile ordering, similar to what Starbucks has done.
