Mark Zuckerberg: Now The 3rd Richest Person In The World
It’s official, he’s now richer than Warren Buffett (at least for now)
As of last Friday, the Facebook CEO took over Warren Buffet’s spot as as the third richest person in the world with a net worth of $81.6 billion thanks to Facebook shares rising 2.4%. This is the first time that the three richest people in the world all came from tech. Amazon's Jeff Bezos, worth about $141 billion, is first, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
While well known for investing in more tangible objects like banks, properties, Coca Cola and cars, we can't say that Buffet isn’t investing in tech stocks of his own. Berkshire Hathaway bought about 75 million shares of Apple stock earlier in the year, adding to the 165 million shares it already had.
Regardless, Zuckerberg has pledged to give away 99% of his fortune in order to help advocate for personalized learning, curing disease, connecting people and building strong communities.
