You'll Never Believe What Zac Efron And Matthew Mcconaughey Are Doing This Summer
Ok, so they may look a little rough but it's for a good cause.
Mcconaughey and Efron have been working on a new feature film called The Beach Bum that has them rocking out in true gutter punk attire. Distributed by Neon (the same company that brought us I, Tonya and Three Identical Strangers), written and directed by Harmony Korine (the same guy that brought us Spring Breakers and Trash Humpers) the movie is about a rebellious stoner named Moondog (played by Mcconaughey) who lives life by his own rules and has little regard for what anyone else thinks.
Mcconaughey and Efron team up to tear down the beaches of Miami together as a dynamic duo who take pleasure in doing whatever they please.
The star studded cast of A-List actors doesn't end with Efron and Mcconaughey. The film will also feature Isla Fisher as Minnie, Jimmy Buffett, Snoop Dogg as the Lingerie the drug dealer, Martin Lawrence as Captain Wack and Jonah Hill as Lewis to name a few.
Although the film has been in development for some time now, it isn't to say that the team hasn't had their fair share of fun. On set, it was reported that some of the prop Marijuana used in one of the scenes between Snoop Dogg and Mcconaughey was accidentally switched out for actual Marijuana.
“I went to the prop man to make sure I have the prop weed which is like crushed oregano,” McConaughey said. “[During filming], we pass back and forth and all of sudden at the end he goes, ‘Yo Moondog, that ain’t prop weed, that’s Snoop Weed.’ I was like, ‘Oh you son of a gun.'”
McConaughey summed up what happened next: “The next 9 hours were a lot of fun but I don’t think we used one word in the English language.” McConaughey gave his account of the Snoop Dogg marijuana story on Jimmy Kimmel in the video below.
While the film is still in post production, it's set to release later this year. For more updates on The Beach Bum and other entertaining reads, make sure to use the form below to subscribe to our newsletter.
