Why Ant-Man And The Wasp Will Blow Your Mind
Warning – The information below contains spoilers. You have been warned.
With its recent release, Ant-Man and the Wasp is a great continuation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We here at The Sitch took a team outing last night to see what we were missing. And besides, who doesn’t love seeing some amazing acting by the all so hilarious Paul Rudd (check out the trailer below).
Not having remembered too much of what happened in the first movie (to be fair the original debuted in 2015 and there’s been a horde of other Marvel movies to come out since then, seven to be exact), there were several scenes throughout the film that referenced old scenes that took some time to pick up on. Thankfully the plot line did a great job at bringing you up to speed on how everything tied together.
While the movie was overall really entertaining and fun to watch (it’s gotten a 93% approval rating from Google users and a 82% rating from Rotten Tomatoes) the point of this article actually isn’t to ruin the entire plot for you. Frankly, the most important scene in the movie was actually after the movie finished – yes, it’s part of the teaser that Marvel plays after the credits roll through. Having released after the latest Avengers movie (if you haven’t seen it, you really need to), it was shocking how the disappearance of half the universe plays such a big part of this particular end credit scene.
In the scene, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), alongside Hope (Evangeline Lilly), Hank (Michael Douglas) and Janet (Michelle Pfeiffer), takes a step into the Quantum Realm to grab some quantum energy for their new friend Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen).
After Ant-Man captures the energy, he begins to communicate with the team back on earth in order to re-enter his realm. He then hears a breaking sound in the communicator and asks if everything is OK. The camera then pans back to the group back at home, only to find that they have turned to ash as a result of Thanos’ use of the glove in Avengers: Infinity War, leaving Ant-Man with seemingly no way to return home.
While, there has been speculation from some that the Quantum Realm may be the key to either finding other versions of the Infinity Stones needed to build another gauntlet or perhaps a doorway to all of the lost soles who have vanished, viewers will just have to wait another 10 months until Captain Marvel debuts to find out.
