Why pay a contractor to install drywall when you can get this Japanese robot to do it instead?

Japan’s HRP-5P robot from AIST can now install drywall as fast as a teenage kid can

If you’ve ever had to install drywall, then you already know how fun it is. But for those of you looking to hire someone else to install some drywall, then you’ll be happy to hear that Japan has finally made a robot that can do it all for you. Japan’s Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) now has a HRP-5P humanoid robot that can install drywall, among other simple construction tasks.

Although the HRP-5P might not be quite as fast as a trained professional, it can still do the job at about the same rate as a teenager. AIST hopes that the HRP-5P will be able to be used on construction sites, given that the country continues to find itself in labor shortages and is filled with an aging population.

The new robot could soon take over the jobs for many people looking to help assemble houses, ships, and large buildings. It’s pretty crazy to see technology like the HRP-5P slowly making the world into something you would expect to see in a sci-fi movie.
